Elva, 10, sitting on a dead coconut trees near the Tina River in New Birao village. Elva's family stood on the spot where the river flows. In April 2014, the house was washed away along with the other 20 houses. Many families lost their homes and gardens, some still live in tents. Some children stopped going to school because their parents have no money to pay school fees.
